Amaya wasn't sure what sort of turn-out she might have for this weekend; as she'd mentioned to Fjord, hers did seem the sort of class parents and the like might want to check in on. She thought of just directing people on over to the shop, so she could still get some work done, but that didn't seem very fair and quite a bit inconvenient for the guests, really, and it wasn't like she couldn't just bring some work with her. Not a bad work space, this office, when you got right down to it, but it was hardly the same as her shop.

How it was exactly that Amaya came into the office with just a single box filled with various gadgets and parts to work on only to have the whole place covered with an array of different bits and pieces and tools within the hour was anyone's guess, but it definitely did make the room feel a bit more like home.

"Hm?" Amaya looked up at the sound of her name, just as she was trying to fit a coil around a rod, causing it to slip out of her fingers and go springing up toward the ceiling. From there, it bounced toward the door frame, ricocheted toward the floor, careened off the far wall, and then finally settled as it dove into a copper cylinder with a rather satisfying ping! sound. She watched its every move, blinked when it stopped, and let out a soft "heh" that matched the faint blush on her cheeks.

"Well," she stated, "that's got to be worth at least a few points."

And, sure that nothing else would decide to go take a nice flight around the room, her attention went back to the visitor. "And I take it you're here for one of my students," she observed, and she felt she could take a pretty good stab at who, too. "Come on in. Don't mind the mess, I was just brushing up a few," dozen, "projects here and there. We should be pretty clear of springs, though, I should think."

"Indeed I am," T'Challa said with a faint, polite smile. "My sister, Shuri."

Whom, having grown up with her, he assumed needed no further description as she was very unique.

That she was, and Amaya beamed a bit proudly, as that's who she figured it was. "Ah, yes, Shuri, of course!" she laughed a little. "Shuri's great. I've had her in a few of my classes now, actually, and she never fails to impress. And what I really appreciate is the fact that, even though she'd clearly used to dealing with an awful lot of much more advanced stuff...and dealing with it well...she's always eager to brush up on the basics or try her hand at a little more....rustic."

[scoffs_at_furballs]

"She's doing 'rustic' things?" He was going to lord this over her anytime she insisted on updating the Black Panther garb.

"Well," Amaya offered, "her teacher's from a place that hasn't got electricity outside of magic, but I do what I can. Lots of basic metal working, wood working. And it's always exciting when the students with a bit more experience can actually teach me something new, and Shuri always seems eager to share her knowledge, which I appreciate."

[scoffs_at_furballs]

"I am just surprised she has not complained," he replied. "My sister insists that I am a luddite."

That was also just normal sibling stuff.

A luddite also might suggest an inability or a lack of eagerness to learn, T'Challa.

Amaya grinned faintly. "Well, if she complains," she said, "it's never been to my face, and she genuinely seems to enjoy herself."

[scoffs_at_furballs]

Okay, that might have been accurate.

"I'm certain our mother will be thrilled to hear this." Unless she too was in the loop with the Dora Milaje. And he wasn't.

"Good," Amaya said with a satisfied little nod. "I'm glad. And I can't imagine you'll hear much different from her other teachers, either. She really is a great student."

Amaya would say that about all of her students, though.

But that didn't make it any less true.

"She has always been a very intelligent girl," T'Challa said. He would never say this to her face. Ever.
