MCA #-2 (And On the Way To..), Tuesday Evening [05/28].
When plans were originally made for Seivarden to make it up to Amaya for crashing at her place and shedding all over her furniture and being a cat for a couple of weeks, the worst obstacle Amaya would have to face getting over there was maybe some wet boots. Wet boots didn't seem as much a problem this time around, but there was no denying that the critters she'd likely encounter on the way were some really nasty and unpleasant sons-of-witches. Now, Amaya made weapons, but she wasn't much of a fighter, unless she needed to be, and she had a pretty good frying pan that she weilded with exceptional ease for these occasions, buuuut....
Well, she'd been worried about the Crumbler being ruined with all the water, and woke up to find the Crumbler not only not ruined with rust and rot, but instead, immensely improved with all sorts of new accessories that she was just dying to test out.
And she was always complaining that there wasn't nearly enough stuff that needed Crumbling around here...
So please to not mind the over-eager blacksmith making her way through the streets and clearing her path of anything that might get in the way with a far too underutilized Crumbler. Turns out, Crumblers could handle giant scorpions and radroaches and mole rats incredibly well.
She was almost tempted to go on around another loop through the town, but, well, it would be rude to late. So she pulled the Crumbler aside once she reached MCA, toss a tarp over her for protection, and headed on in and down to Seivarden's apartment, where she knocked on the door and took a few moments to make sure she hadn't gotten any crumbled bits of monsters stuck on her or anything.
[[ mostly for the former cat (and her roommate, too, if he wants to hang out!), but, hey, if anyone wants to jump in and say hi while she's Crumbling through town before getting there, I am so for it. ]]

Seivarden lowered her voice. "Just imagine the explosions."

Or if they fast-forwarded past a scene on the ship where the captain received information about an attack on a remote system while trying to read a love letter that had been a surprise to no one but her. Or possibly Amaya.

Maybe a few good gun shoot-outs and some sort of dramatic chase scenes, too, those would be fine.
"Patience has never been one of my strong suits," Amaya admitted almost a little wistfully, and she finished up what was left of her tea mostly just so she could reach for the bottle of whiskey and fill her cup again.
Look, if this was to make up for the last couple of weeks, she had a lot more drinking to do before it even started to balance the scales a little.
"But it'll make it worth it...if the explosions are good."
She was holding you personally accountable for it, too, if they weren't, Seivarden.

"Oh, they are good. I promise. Which isn't the same as realistic, of course. I mean, I could fast-forward, but that would mean this movie would be shorter."

"Oh? And what's that?"
NFB from here, OMG.
"Hold on," she said, setting her glass aside as she stood up. "Pause it for a moment, I'll be right back." And she started heading back to the kitche, calling out as she did, "Because I saw some rum in here earlier, didn't I? Ah, yup, there we go."
She retrieved another glass, pouring a good portion of the rum into it and setting it nicely on the center of the counter. "That's for the squirrels," she said, and then tilted back a swig of her own, "that's for me, and---"
She figured Seivarden might be able to figure out where this might be headed by now, especially once she plopped back on the couch, the red in her cheeks and her grin having only spread. "I figured we could go see if I can still make you purr like--
"Nope," Amaya, wincing, mostly in the form of a wrinkled nose, cut herself off firmly and judiciously. "Nope, that is...that is a bad one. That one was not good, I'm hearing it now, now that it's outloud, that one worked much better in my head, and that's exactly where it should have stayed, but the sentiment remains, and I think you know where I was planning on going with it, don't need to finish that off."
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
She laughed. "I mean, I could try, although I think that skill went away with the fur."
She scooted a little closer, reaching for her glass at the same time, grinning at Amaya. "Where do we fit in the explosions?"
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
As for starting things, she wasn't sure whether this was a suggestion that they stop paying attention to the explosions on the screen, in which case moving to the bedroom would be the best in case Peter showed up, or if they were still going to watch the spaceship battles.
That would have to be Amaya's choice. She was the guest and the one being compensated, after all. Seivarden leaned a little closer though.
And in that moment Issa jumped up on the couch between them.
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
Just like Seivarden would be sorely mistaken if all that shifting and leaning meant she was starting to think perhaps the proposition included things like cuddling and canoodling, which it very firmly did not, so it was seeming like a pretty good thing, Issa showing up when she did, so she could best avoid that confusion all together.
"Come to try and reclaim your territory, have you?" Amaya asked the cat, grinning faintly as she went to offer her a scratch behind the ears of appreciation. "You're much too late; we've already invaded."
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
Sometimes Issa had good timing. She also did her best to reconquer her territory by taking up as much space as possible, while purring and leaning against Amaya's hand.
Seivarden reached for the bottle and refilled both their glasses.
"If you move she'll take it back," she said, grinning.
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
"Better keep that bottle close, then," said Amaya, nodding in appreciation to Seivarden now for the top-off, while managing to sip and scritch at the same time.
"If she thinks friendliness is going to convince me to move," she stated, "she's purring into the wrong hand."
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
"She might try," she said, but then Issa moved and slowly took a few steps and placed herself in Seivarden's lap.
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
Amaya had to grin a little at the relocation, though, simply reveling in her drink and the fact that it was someone else's turn to deal with a cat.
"At least we know you're not getting up any time soon," she noted. "And I don't really believe in divine retribution or anything like that, but..."
She felt she deserved to be a little smug there.
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
"I can put her down on the floor, you know."
Seivarden sipped her whiskey, but was interrupted by some dramatic music from the TV. The movie cut between a couple kissing and a spaceship battle with a lot of explosions.
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
And then she was definitely going to be momentarily distracted with shiny, shiny explosions and spaceship battles, yes.
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
She could talk about this without sounding too emotional, she could.
"You see the enemy ones? The fleet is bigger, but they lack the shields. There's no way they could win, even against such a small force."
The Radchaai ships looked a lot more elegant and impressive too, and they were definitely cleaner inside. And people wore gloves.
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
Clearly drawn in by and eager for the impending battle, she was able to take a break from biting on her lower lip in anticipation long enough to ask, "Realistically, though...how close is something like this to an actual space battle, anyway?"
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
"It's... well. It depends on the battle. Less colourful, usually."
She reached for her glass, which made Issa let out a complaint.
Re: NFB from here, OMG.
And don't get her started on cuts and blood splatter!
But then Issa had to go let out that little complaint and she had to laugh. Now where had she heard a complaint like that before, hmm?
"I think I see now where you get it from," she teased. "Or is it the other way around?"
